Choose your cooking style - stir-fry

Nicole Toia,

Stir-frying is a Chinese cooking method that involves tossing or stirring vegetables in a hot pan or wok.

This method is quick and is a great way to cook lots of vegetables at once in one pan.  Add a little bit of fresh garlic and ginger and you will have the family coming back for more!

How to:

For this method to work best, cut vegetables into long, thin strips. Heat a wok or a large pan and add a spray of oil to coat the surface. Once hot, put the vegetables in, stir and toss until cooked but still crunchy (this shouldn’t take long and is usually when the colour has brightened). You may need to stage the timing of adding your vegetables as some cook faster than others.

Vegetables best for stir frying include:

  • carrot
  • snow peas
  • broccoli
  • onion
  • mushroom
  • bok choy
  • choy sum
  • cauliflower
