WA primary school students loved Crunch & Move in May!
Katie Cameron, Nutritionist
Throughout May, we saw 10,217 WA students from 416 classrooms across the state crunching on vegetables and moving their bodies as part of Crunch & Move.
This is the second year of the Crunch&Sip® Crunch & Move event, which encourages kids to eat a serve of vegetables and participate in daily movement in the classroom. With stats still showing that Australian children are not eating enough vegetables each day and with only 23 per cent of children getting the recommended amount of daily physical activity – it is vital that we encourage them to eat more vegetables and move their bodies regularly.
WA teachers understood the assignment and data from our teacher surveys (n=24), on average 84 per cent of the students crunched on veggies and 88 per cent of them participated in daily movement everyday during the month of May. WOW!
Kids love Crunch & Move and so do teachers! Here is what they are saying:
‘’The children enjoyed participating in Crunch & Move. Loved the calendar cards, stickers, yoga cards, movement dice and activity booklet and suggested activities.’’
‘’I love the calendar as we use it in math’s lessons too. I love encouraging the students to try out different veggies too.’’
“Whole school participation. Children enjoyed the new different movement exercises we engaged with. They loved putting the stickers on the chart.”
“They (the kids) reminded me daily that they needed to get out and move and it was a good excuse for them to get outside.”

” Very enjoyable, motivated students and everyone was included.”
“The children enjoyed participating in the Crunch and Move event. Lots of smiling, crunching and moving happy students and teachers. Thank you.”
“Children loved the movement activities provided. We loved that each class was given a team name.”
Thank you to all the wonderful schools that participated in Crunch & Move 2025 and provided us with such positive feedback via the survey. We can’t wait to see the event grow even bigger next year!
