Naan
  • Prep: 10
  • Cook: 25 mins
  • Serves: 8

Ingredients

  • 1 cup wholemeal plain flour
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda (bicarbonate)
  • 2 tsp canola oil
  • 3/4 cup reduced-fat milk

Method

Place dry ingredients in a bowl and combine. Make a well in the centre.

Mix the wet ingredients together in a separate bowl and heat in the microwave until it’s hot but not boiling. Slowly add to the well in the dry ingredients and stir to combine. Once combined, knead the dough with your hands until the dough just comes together and is soft and not too sticky. Do not over knead. Form into a ball and place back in the mixing bowl, cover with plastic wrap and rest in a warm place for 20 minutes.

Divide the dough into 4 and roll into balls. Recover with plastic wrap and rest for a further 10 minutes. Roll out the balls on a floured surface.

Heat a non-stick fry pan over medium high heat. Place one of the rolled balls in the fry pan and cover with a lid. When bubbles show on the top of the dough, flip it over and cook through on the second side.
